Things to do in Santa Barbara -- Late Spring 2014

May 19, 2014

The rides have been lovely on the I Bike Santa Barbara tour.  Several weeks past bud break now the vineyard canopies are lush and green.  There are still a few California Poppies around (our gift of spring), but as their orange hue becomes less abundant, a glow of violet is showing at Clairmont Lavender Farm.  As for the wines, we have particularly been loving the rosé s from Kaena and Rideau this warm spring.

Elsewhere around Santa Barbara, we recommend the following activities:

I Madonnari – Italian Street Painting Festival — May 24 -26 — The plaza of the Old Mission will be transformed with 150 vibrant and colorful,large-scale street paintings created by artists and young people.  The event also features gustosto Italian food and beverages.

Downtown Art & Wine Tour — May 24 – Be ready to stroll along State Street, highlighting galleries and venues above Carrillo, all venues will host a cultural event paired with a restaurant and winery for you to savor.

Comedy Nights at Comedy Hideaway — Ongoing Thursdays (Goleta), Fridays and Saturdays (SB) — Quite possibly the best entertainment deal around, Comedy Hideaway features national headliners supported by great local talent.

Urban Wine Trail Summer Celebration — May 30 – June 1 — Guests will sip their way along the Urban Wine Trail while enjoying a weekend of WINE, FOOD & FUN in the Santa Barbara sunshine. Take advantage of special opportunities to meet winemakers, enjoy exclusive tastings, and receive discounts on bottle purchases.

4oth Annual Solstice Parade — June 21 — Santa Barbara’s craziest day is always fun.  Enjoy the carnival atmosphere on State Street.  This year’s theme is GAMES.
